Greetings from the land of Germany!! It's been fairly mild here with no snow, which I miss dearly, and I wish I could tell you that we've had the most exciting week ever and accomplished so much and on and on..but it's been a fairly normal week with a few great adventures here and there.
One "adventure" (if you can really call it that) we had was Val waking us girls up (and Eric trying to wake Brent up, but being unsuccessful) Friday morning at 2am for a worship/prayer service. Eric and Val both awoke very shook up from unpleasant dreams they had each had and sensed it was very important that we have a time of worship and prayer together right then. So we stumbled out of bed and Eric and Val explained what was going on and we worshiped together until around 3am. For any of you who felt the need to really lift us up in prayer at around 8pm-9pm on Thursday evening (U.S. time), we would really like to hear from you and what your experience was along with what you felt called to prayed about.
On Wednesday, I believe, Eric, Brent, Jen, and I helped a gentleman from our church move the contents of a store he owns to another building located directly across the street while Janae and Val baked some German cakes with one of our outreach coordinators, Darrel. I think they froze some of the cakes to use for church sometime when needed and used the others that night for a church meeting. The moving of the store, which is full of organic foods and such, went well. I think we started around 9am and finished around 4:30ish. We pushed many a cart full of cans of food, bottles of drinks, and bags of noodles across the cobblestone road with two sets of tram tracks running through them. It was a rather busy road and was a bit tricky to get all the glass bottles across the extremely bumpy road in the carts without breaking them or the cart getting stuck on the tram tracks!! And it was great, the owner gave us all a free bottle of a drink of our choice, bought us lunch, and gave us a bunch of fruit to take home too!!
We also had a fun time together going to the oldest Chocolate factory in Germany called Halloren, which is here in Halle!! There was so many mouth-watering chocolates to buy and and we took a tour through part of the building where we got to see a little bit of how some of the chocolate is made.
Prayer Requests:
-to excel further in learning the language
-continued health
-I think Satan's not happy with what God's doing here through us, so prayer that God would strengthen us and protect us
-that our friends that are not Christians would become Christians and that God would speak through us to them
-continued good relationships amongst the team
-that our first English Bible Study would go well on Tuesday eve. and that the people that God wants to come, will come
-and that our Coffee House would also go well on Friday eve
Praises:
-we continue to have good relationships with the people here and have made many friends
-we are all healthy
-we continue to have many enjoyable times together
